Lakewood Presbyterian Church is known for being a loving family of God. Our Congregational Care ministry is composed of women and men who show love for their LPC family by volunteering to serve and meet the needs of our members. If you would like to help out in any of these areas, please contact the church office to be connected with a Congregational Care member.
Doves
We coordinate monthly visits by our elders to our DOVEs (Dear Ones Visited by Elders). Each month the DOVEs receive something from their visitor, such as the devotional publication Our Daily Bread, a lily at Easter, a poinsettia at Christmas, or a special card or craft made by one of our talented youth, preschool children, Little Women’s Circle, or adult church members. Hospitality Committee
Meals are provided following funeral services and other special events with the help of this ministry. Food donations for these events are greatly appreciated. Go-Getters
If you are unable to get to church or medical appointments on your own, our Go-Getters are happy to help. We will help coordinate transportation for you in your time of need. |
Card and Call Committee
Calls are made weekly to check on members of concern and cards are sent out for births, illnesses and loss of a loved one. We also send cards to our college students and to those on our Concern List to remind them that they are loved and we miss them. If you would like to donate cards to this ministry, please bring them to the Church office. Most needed are blank "Thinking of You" cards. Manna Meals
Meals are provided by volunteers to those in our congregation who have a short-term need. We utilize an on-line Care Calendar to help organize those meals on an ongoing basis. Everyone is welcome to help. Sanctuary Flower Arrangement Deliveries
We deliver flowers from the Sunday worship services to hospitals, nursing homes, and homebound members and friends. |
Mental Health Check
The last two years have been challenging and they may have taken their toll. Taking care of our mental health isn't always easy and sometimes we need some help in our journey. In an effort to provide some practical help and support, Pastor Joy has collaborated with counselors from Life Renewed Counseling Center to create a 6 week series of videos about "everyday" mental health challenges and some practical help for dealing with them. Watch them yourselves and share with others! If you need or want more support please reach out to us.
