Itching for God's Love
Friday, June 26, 2009 at 9:44PM
Hey you silly presbyterians its Amanda May!
19, 20, 21....No this is not how old Mr. Scott wishes he was or the number of times we have laughed today, its the number of ant bites on my leg. Of coarse it was the last day of work only four peices of wood to go untill we were all done and it happened to be right next to an ant hill. i am in the middle of cutting the second peice of wood and i feel this tiny tiny sting, but im determined to finsih my wood cutting! i get to a point where the power saw gets stuck and just drop it. I look down and to my surprise as always there are ants everywhere. So whatever an ant bite its all good i can keep on trucking along. well that was before the itching. Goodness gracouse i was itchy and got to the point where i had to sit down. We finally get back and my face is swollen and my lips look like a bad botox job ;not my best glowing moment. So we have our little joy ride to the hospitals and i get my shots, and the first thing i see when i get back is Gods love waiting for me looking out the window for when i get back. The whole youth rushed up to me and just crushed me in the most moving hug i have ever experianced.
Its the next day, a very special day for me, my birthday. What a greater way to spend it than walking around New Orleans with my friends! Not only did i see beautiful sights i heard beautiful things. The whole youth had our mission trips shirts on and stood out like a sore thumb considering they were lime green. All of us just minding out own business roaming the french market when i hear the words "we love you all". It caught my attention immediatly and turn around to see a man sitting down by the street. He just looked at us..and said God bless you we love you thank you for being here with your love. It just took my breath away to hear a stranger express his thanks to us so openly. He was the first man i heard say this but not the last. Men stopped and helped us with directions saying God bless, people asking about our work and saying the grace of God be with you, and seeing people walking around with signs saying free prayer only to follow with our screaming we love Jesus. I have never seen a community so thankful and God driven before. It made my day special and will cherrish the words of these strangers for a lifetime.
