At Lakewood Presbyterian Church, communion is usually celebrated the first Sunday of each month at both the 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services.
You do not need to be a member of Lakewood Presbyterian Church or any church to receive communion at LPC. Ours is an open table to any and all who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Check out Our Calendar for more details on each Sunday.
Church Seasons
Churches use colors to differentiate the liturgical seasons. The color appropriate to the season is displayed on the communion table, pulpit, lectern, ceiling banners and stoles worn by the ministers, choir and acolytes. At Lakewood Presbyterian Church, we use five colors during the church seasons: royal blue, white, green, purple, black and red.
Advent – royal blue. The first Sunday in Advent is the Sunday nearest November 30.
Christmas and Epiphany – white. The Epiphany – the visit of the magi – is celebrated on the Sunday closest to January 6.
Lent – purple. Lent begins with Ash Wednesday.
Maundy Thursday/Good Friday – black.
Easter – white. Easter is always the first Sunday following the first full moon after the Spring Equinox. It can fall anywhere between March 22 and April 25.
Pentecost – red. Pentecost is celebrated on the 50th day of Easter.
Ordinary Time – green. Ordinary Time refers to time periods not marked by a specific season.
Our church banners displayed in the front of our sanctuary complement the church seasons and enhance our worship experience. Over the years, some LPC members have given the gift of their extraordinary talents to create our banners.

LPC Troupers
This talented group creatively teaches and reaches through the performing arts as another way of enhancing our worship experience. Their performances are generally centered around key seasons of the church year, such as Advent and Lent.
If you are interested in joining the LPC Troupers, contact Linda Allen through the church office.
Sanctuary Flower Calendar
The Sanctuary flowers serve as a beautiful enhancement to our worship services. The cost is $40 for the first Sunday of the month (two arrangements) and $55 for the other Sundays. Please make your check payable to Lakewood Presbyterian Church and note that it is for flowers.
Please call or write the church office at info@lpcjax.org with the dedication for the bulletin. The deadline is noon on the Tuesday prior to the flowers being in the Sanctuary.
Following the 11:00 a.m. service, the flowers are yours to take to a loved one, to a shut-in or to take home to enjoy.
