Helpful Information for Visitors
Here at LPC we love meeting new people of all ages! Whether you are a Christian looking for a new church family or someone seeking answers, you are welcome at Lakewood Presbyterian Church.
Visiting our Worship Services:
When you enter our church building by the front door, you will be greeted by our duty elders in the Narthex and receive a bulletin from one of our ushers outlining our order of service. Please introduce yourself as a visitor and we'll be happy to have a member of our Evangelism and Church Growth Ministry welcome you with a visitor bag full of information about LPC and answer questions you may have about us.
Our worship music is blend of contemporary and traditional hymns, which are found either in our new hymnals, Glory to God, or as an insert to the bulletin. Sing out in praise of God or listen in quiet reflection. Our music is meant to enhance and reinforce the theme of the worship and we want you enjoy it in a manner with which you're comfortable.
LPC Friendship Pad
At the end of each pew (near the center aisle) you will find a Friendship Pad. We ask that everyone sign this pad so we know who you are. For those who are not members, please indicate that you are visitor. You may also request a call or sign up for an upcoming event on this sheet.
What should I wear?
We don't stand on formality and want you to feel comfortable. Our members wear anything from suits and dresses to jeans and t-shirts, so you will fit in with whatever you wear.
Assistance to those with Special Needs
We have several handicap designated areas in our parking lots located to the west of the Sanctuary building and behind our education/administrative building (see map here). We also have a covered drop off area on the west side of the Sanctuary. You are welcome to enter our Sanctuary from either side to avoid climbing the steps in the front of the building and we have an usher posted at these doors to assist you. Cut-out pews are available in the front and rear areas of the Sanctuary to accommodate wheel chairs. Our ushers and duty elders will be happy to assist you with seating and the temporary storage of your equipment during the service if needed.
For those with sight impairments, we provide large print bulletins and hymnals. Hearing assist devices are available for those with hearing impairments. Please inform an usher if you are in need of any of these.
Your comfort and care is of our utmost concern. If you find the Sanctuary to be too cold, please let someone know and we'll be happy to lend you a shawl. Shawls are located in a basket in the Narthex.
For those who are sensitive to gluten products, we provide gluten-free wafers for Communion. Again, please let an usher or duty elder know and we'll be happy to assist you. Or, you may pick one up in the Narthex on your way into the Sanctuary on Communion Sundays.
