What Is Love? - 5/10/2009

Sermon text: 1 John 4: 7-21

“Tell me the name of your mama’s mama.”  It was my third class at the Iliff School of Theology, in my first quarter of seminary.  I thought I had the drill down for introducing myself. After all, the other professors asked for statistical kind of information - name, denomination, and degree program. Something less than extremely personal. The labels. Perhaps the equivalent of asking for name, date of birth, social security number. That’s how we students typically began a new class at seminary. A brief, fairly impersonal introduction.
