Fourth Sunday in Lent

Sermon text: 2 Corinthians 5:16-21

It’s a children’s poem generally ignored by adults. In fact, its message seems like nonsense:

“Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall; All the king’s horses, and all the king’s men, couldn’t put Humpty together again.”

Just a clever little rhyme, often animated with a funny egg figure perched on a wall. But today I want us to stop and take a closer look. I’m often amazed at the profound meanings that come from children’s books and children’s nursery rhymes like this one.
