Jesus' Kingdom Parables - Surprise! - 07/24/2011

Sermon text: Matthew 13:31-33, 44-53

   This is the third and last installment in our summer series on Jesus’ Parables of the Kingdom… a series driven by the Lectionary passages that refer directly to this all important aspect of Jesus’ mission. The last two weeks I’ve mentioned that the sixth Great End of the Church from our Book of Order is my favorite. It says:

   We are to be the exhibition of the kingdom of heaven to the world. (G-1.0200)

   I’m hoping that after today’s sermon, we have a better understanding of the Kingdom’s implications for our life together and maybe, just maybe, we can truly BE that exhibition. … Read full sermon here (PDF)
