Lakewood Concert Series in memory of Ernst Mueller
LPC is launching a concert series to honor the memory of a beloved and devoted church member, Ernst Mueller, who lost his battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) on July 21, 2011.
All concerts are free and open to the public. The performances will be held in the sanctuary of the church at 2001 University Boulevard West, Jacksonville, FL 32217.
Two benefit concerts are planned: the first supporting the Florida Chapter of the ALS Association and the August performance benefiting United Community Outreach Ministry (UCOM). UCOM’s food pantry serves about 2,600 families annually in Jacksonville’s Southside neighborhoods.

Sunday, February 26, 7 p.m.
The Jacksonville Masterworks Chorale and Orchestra performing Handel’s Zadok the Priest Coronation Anthem, Britten’s Festival Te Deum and Francis Poulenc’s Gloria. Donations will benefit the Florida Chapter of the ALS Association. Light refreshments following the performance.
Sunday, March 4, 7 p.m.
Brahms and Friends, featuring acclaimed guest artists – mezzo-soprano Jane Christeson, baritone Bobb Robinson and pianist Michael Rickman.
Jane Christeson completed performance degrees in piano and voice from the University of Alabama. She has had a varied career in opera, music theater, oratorio and recital work, performing more than 40 roles with companies and orchestras around the United States and abroad.
Bobb Robinson has been praised by The Washington Post for his “charismatic stage presence” and “rich, flowing baritone”, and by The Miami Herald for his “impressively effortless” singing. He has performed at some of the nation’s most prominent venues, including the Kennedy Center, Washington National Cathedral and the White House.
Michael Rickman has been portrayed as “a resourceful and sensitive pianist, technically in control and emotionally rewarding.” He has received critical acclaim on three continents, performing at significant cultural centers around the world. In 1983, Dr. Rickman joined the faculty of the School of Music of Stetson University, where he is Professor of Piano.

Part III of Handel’s Messiah, featuring LPC’s Chancel Choir and Chamber Orchestra.
Sunday, August 19, 7 p.m.
A benefit concert to feed the soul…and the hungry, featuring Rodney Cleveland, LPC’s Minister of Music. Donations of monetary gifts and non-perishable food items will benefit United Community Outreach Ministry (UCOM), whose food pantry serves Jacksonville’s Southside neighborhoods. Light refreshments following the performance.

The Lopez Tabor Duo, featuring violinist Alfonso Lopez and pianist Michelle Tabor.

Alfonso Lopez, violinist, conductor, composer, and teacher, is one of the most versatile and prominent musicians of his generation in Venezuela. He is the concertmaster of the Venezuela Symphony Orchestra (OSV) which, as the national symphony, is the oldest and the principal orchestra of the country.
Dr. Michelle Tabor is a scholar, researcher, professor and performer. Lopez and Tabor have performed in the U.S. and Venezuela since 2004. In Caracas, the duo has performed in prominent chamber music series and festivals such as Pro Musica de Camara, the Friedman Festival of Chamber Music, and the series Recital con la Sinfonica at the Asociacion Cultural Humboldt.

Enjoy the sounds of the season with the First Coast Ringers and organist and pianist Rodney Cleveland, LPC’s Minister of Music.

Dedication

Ernst Mueller was a beloved and devoted member of Lakewood Presbyterian Church. He was a music enthusiast and faithful member of the church’s celebrated chancel choir.
A prominent figure in Jacksonville’s legal community, Mr. Mueller’s career spanned nearly 40 years. He served as an assistant U.S. attorney and was senior deputy general counsel for the city of Jacksonville.
Mr. Mueller lost his three-year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) on July 21, 2011.
